"Atlas des reptiles et des amphibiens de PACA"

Meet at the Museum for the conference “Atlas of Reptiles and Amphibians of PACA”. The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region is home to one of the richest communities of amphibians and reptiles in France. For the first time in this region, CEN PACA, LPO and numerous experts carried out a huge five-year project to produce an atlas describing the distribution and conservation status of our 56 local species. The book is rich in maps, descriptions of the local context and survey guidance for professional and amateur naturalists. Florian Plault, project officer at CEN PACA, is one of the book’s coordinators and authors. During this presentation, he will introduce you to the specific features of the region’s herpetofauna, its emblematic species and habitats, as well as lesser-known aspects: the complex history of kleptons among green frogs and the forgotten historical distributions of the fire salamander and meadow viper.
