Carnet de balade urbaine "La Canebière, une rue pas comme les autres"

What is Marseille’s most famous street? La Canebière, of course! But did you know that it celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2017, while the city is more than 2,600 years old? Strange? Not really, when you know that Marseille remained confined to the Le Panier district for almost 2,000 years. We invite you to understand how this route was built in three successive stages, from 1660 (under the impetus of Louis XIV) to 1927. Its history is linked to that of Marseille, particularly to its flourishing maritime trade in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
