Conférences au ciné[mac]

The Cantini Museum, [mac] and the Friends of the Museums of Marseille have devised a programme of lectures at ciné[mac] for a broad audience. The programme consists of a cycle of 5 sessions held at ciné[mac] on Saturdays at 11 a.m., from May to October 2026. It will be supplemented throughout the year by exhibition tours led by the museums’ curators. The cycle will follow a simple common thread: the history and current affairs of the two collections, the figures who have shaped the museums, and a look back at the major exhibitions and acquisitions of the Cantini Museum and [mac]. Each session will be presented and coordinated by the curators and project managers of the two museums, and enhanced by the presence of an artist, critic, curator or conservator. ► Saturday 13 June from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Anaïs Brives, heritage curator, head of the [mac] collections. Guest artists: Emma Grobois and Agathe Rosa. Creators of the installation Prisme, 20 tonnes of bronze - 250 of granite (2020). This work was commissioned as part of the Manifesta 13 Biennial in Marseille. Emma Grosbois and Agathe Rosa worked from documents held in the Municipal Archives of Marseille concerning the construction of the two monuments on the Corniche Kennedy connected to Marseille’s colonial history. ► Saturday 27 June from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Louise Madinier, curator, head of the Cantini Museum collections. Guest artist: Simon Asencio, discussing the research he initiated in Algiers around the archives of Jean Sénac. This exchange will continue with Louisa Babari’s sound piece Voix Publiques at [mac], which brings together Algerian poetic voices that are essential to Simon Ascensio’s work.
