For its 43rd edition, the European Heritage Days will take place on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026, under the themes “Photography Heritage” and “Heritage in Danger: Reviving, Resisting, Reimagining”. The museum’s program includes guided tours, workshops, exhibitions and other activities. Self-guided visit of the exhibition "The Climate Life. Sensitive Stories from Private Collections - Triennale de leurs temps #8" The European Heritage Days will be an opportunity to discover or revisit the exhibition before it closes on Sunday evening, September 20. The exhibition explores the collection as a genuinely living ecosystem and questions the “ideal climate” of museums—this stable, controlled environment—in the face of the ecological, political and social upheavals of the contemporary world. Self-guided visit of the exhibition "AFRICA - Louisa Babari" In partnership with the contemporary art center Passages (Troyes). Exhibition bearing the “Saison Méditerranée” label—the French Institute’s cultural season. Louisa Babari takes over the MAC, the museum of contemporary art, with works inspired by Antiquity and Berber and Numidian cultures, created especially by the artist for the exhibition. Named AFRICA in reference to the Berber goddess and the history of the continent, the exhibition offers an immersive experience combining photographic, visual and sound works, evoking an ancient bestiary to shape a universe in dialogue with the collections of the Museums of Marseille. The exhibition will be on view until January 3, 2027. Launch of Louisa Babari’s sound piece Voix publiques In dialogue with the AFRICA exhibition, Louisa Babari invites us to explore the poetic output of African countries bordering the Mediterranean, focusing on Algerian creation through the sound piece Voix Publiques. Installed in the museum lobby and outside the museum, this work reconnects with a tradition of popular dissemination at the heart of the city and its neighborhoods, bringing poetic literature to the public. Authors and performers join their voices in a program in which the African continent looks at and speaks about the world. Delegated production: Rhizome, Algiers (Algeria). Opening of the exhibition "6 + (1+1+1) Morellet mis à neuf" The MAC in Marseille is joining the national project celebrating the centenary of François Morellet’s birth, with an unprecedented monographic display within its permanent collection. This event is an opportunity to present, for the first time, all six works by the artist held in the collections of the Museums of Marseille, including the first work acquired in 1971. Loans from Studio Morellet, Frac Sud – Cité de l’art contemporain and Fonds M-Arco complete the presentation, creating an opportunity for dialogue between the region’s private and public collections and demonstrating François Morellet’s roots and presence in Marseille. Dance performance Laaroussa by Meryem Jazouli In her solo dance performance “Laaroussa” (“the bride” in Arabic), Moroccan choreographer Meryem Jazouli evokes, solely through the movement of her arms, the memory of a festive moment between ceremony and improvisation. In a joyful din, the aâroussa, “the bride”, seems suspended in a space-time between prayer and abandon, ceremony and improvisation, where only her arms come into being.
