La grande scène #2

Taking place each year in a different venue, La Grande Scène is a major event for discovering today’s emerging choreographic voices. Presented by the Petites Scènes Ouvertes network, it brings artists, professionals and audiences together around emerging creations. This season, LE ZEF is delighted to welcome two evenings open to the public, as well as professional meetings, offering a special space for discovery, exchange and sharing. On va s'aimer - Pauline Bigot and Steven Hervouet 20-minute excerpt This duet explores love: its existence, its forms and the age-old desire to “become one.” Being two, becoming one body: out of love or to ward off loneliness? Born from the intersection of couples’ ice skating and Roland Barthes’s A Lover’s Discourse, the duet is built through a process of dissection: literary figures and choreographic figures respond to one another in a shared language—that of Barthes’s feelings of love and the movements specific to the sporting discipline... The slippery floor shapes a fluid physicality made of interdependence, fusion and detachment. Gliding, pleasure and the quickening of heartbeats engage in dialogue with music oscillating between tension and release, joy and nostalgia, evoking a magnetism as irresistible as it is elusive. The duet thus becomes a space for celebration, confessions and new ways of loving. elle brûle - Suzanne Henry Full 30-minute work With elle brûle, Suzanne Henry engages with a legacy: learned techniques, assimilated forms and gestures accumulated and embodied over time. After years of training and confronting different choreographic languages, she explores this artistic inheritance and the place it occupies in her own body. Rather than freeing herself from this legacy, Suzanne Henry chooses to push it to its limits... In this process of reclaiming, the body reveals traumatic memories; the gesture rises up, persists and moves through the pain of exertion. Conceived as a trial, the choreography pushes bodies to their limits, exposes exhaustion and keeps the body on the brink of collapse. Traversed by the stories of other women, the work moves beyond individual experience toward a collective dimension. Dance acts here as a revealer: what burns inside is converted into driving energy, until it becomes a force of affirmation. HIDDEN - Sarah Cerneaux Full work (28 minutes) Drawing on the notion of the body as a site where traces of its history are preserved, three women seek to deconstruct what their environment has engraved in them: the idea that, to get by, they must become what are called “tough guys” in the neighborhood. Between the desire to be oneself and the need to adapt, becoming oneself as a woman recounts strategies of protection as well as individuation.
