The Municipal Archives invite you to immerse yourself in the art and materiality of architecture. Beyond the natural heritage that has made Marseille famous internationally, the identity of Marseille has also been shaped by an exceptional built heritage. The lasting preservation of this heritage is ensured by a proactive policy of study and protection: between 2024 and 2026, the number of Marseille buildings listed as Historic Monuments increased from 48 to 89. The Municipal Archives invite you to immerse yourself in the art and materiality of architecture through this exhibition, which highlights this dynamic involving several municipal departments. On display are 29 models from the city’s Heritage and Historic Monuments Department, made by model maker Eric Majan, and 16 watercolors by Catherine d’Ortoli, who works within the same department to recreate and preserve a record of the city’s iconic monuments. They are accompanied by postcards, plans and photographs from the municipal technical departments (planning permits and work on municipal buildings), drawn from the Municipal Archives’ collections.
Free
From June 13, 2026 to October 17, 2026 Mondays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
