Presented for the first time in France, Zineb Sedira’s installation Dreams Have No Title was created for the French Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022, where it received a special mention from the jury. Zineb Sedira offers an experience of the fiction of reality and blurs the boundaries between intimacy and collective memory. Through an autobiographical narrative, the artist connects key moments in her life with broader geopolitical events, avant-garde cinema and diasporic experiences.Since 25 years ago, Zineb Sedira has developed a sensitive practice focused on migration, the act of storytelling and the biases inherent in official narratives. Her films constitute an in-depth archival exploration of identity and cultural activism. Born in France into an Algerian family, she settled in London in the mid-1980s. Her story and that of her family quickly became fertile ground for artistic experimentation.
