Show co-produced by CCN de Grenoble as part of the 2026 studio residency, Plateforme Parallèle (2026). In the solo Manguba is the name of the haunting that appeared to my grandmother in her childhood, Luara Raio activates tactics of enchantment and incorporation, using the figure of the assombração—in Brazilian Portuguese, “a soul from the other world, apparition, haunting”—as a technology of monstrosification that moves through the world of dreams and the collective unconscious. Accompanied live by music from chaos clay, the physical research at the heart of the piece explores how the body can enchant/haunt space and, at the same time, subtly and derisively sabotage norms and the colonial gaze. Here, subversion creates a breach through which other bodies and symbols can take their place in the body and in space. Between intimate and collective history, the performance reflects on the voids and traces left by our ancestors, even when they are erased—or resist erasure. Conceived and performed by Luara Raio
