Ombre

Written and directed by Anthony Diaz, this tale, in which circus and puppetry intertwine, gently reminds us that sometimes we have to fall in order to get back up stronger. Plume dreams of flying and touching the sky. No matter how hard she tries, she cannot do it, and everyone at school laughs. She begins to doubt herself; her body grows heavy and falters under the weight of uncertainty and mockery. There she is on the ground, seemingly flattened, her desire biting the dust. But a few words of encouragement whispered in her ear by friendly voices are enough for her momentum to return, along with the desire to stand up again. Delicately manipulated by three puppeteers, Plume comes to life before our eyes and takes flight, a light circus performer on her flying rope, from shadow into light.
