Starting from graffiti quoting Dostoevsky—“Beauty will save the world”—the choreographer undertakes an attempt at collective resuscitation, nourished by the cultural references of young adults: music, films, video games, poems and images. A collective collection conceived as a digital time capsule. The work unfolds a retrofuturistic landscape where dystopian and post-apocalyptic worlds intersect with contemplation and melancholy. Emmanuel Eggermont, a distinctive path in French contemporary dance A graduate of the Centre national de danse contemporaine d’Angers, Emmanuel Eggermont began his career in Madrid and then South Korea before returning to France in 2005. He gradually developed a demanding body of work, shaped by a research residency at L’L (Brussels) between 2011 and 2016, and by a collaboration of more than 15 years with choreographer Raimund Hoghe, for whose stage work he is now the heir. At the head of the Lille-based company L’Anthracite, Eggermont develops a choreographic world nourished by visual arts and architecture. His “chromato-choreographic” cycle—which includes Polis (2017), Aberration (2020) and All Over Nymphéas (2022), presented at the Festival d’Avignon—has established him as a leading figure in French contemporary creation. He is also a recipient of the Beaumarchais-SACD grant. How do you get to Le Zef - scène nationale de Marseille? The show takes place at the Merlan site, in Marseille’s 14th arrondissement. To get there by public transport, bus line 97 connects Centre Bourse to Le Zef, toward Hôpital Nord, with a stop immediately near the theater.
