Lying on a carpet of blank pages, a man sleeps. In his dreams, the sheets slide, crumple and take on color, revealing moonlit landscapes. In a perpetual dance, his dreams are imprinted beneath his paper sheets. Settled on a bed of a thousand blank pages, a man dances his dreams. During his nightly journeys, drawings detach themselves from the page to become the setting of his imagination. Shapes and colors rise and float. The audience, seated on either side of the blank page, is immersed in this dreamlike landscape. To accompany this nocturnal journey, the music celebrates slowness. Our man is a storyteller and transmitter. Like our memory, he uses the night to become a place of creation and reinvention. In this collaboration with Mélanie Rutten, Compagnie en attendant… wishes to talk about sleep to very young children and their parents. An author and illustrator, her texts and drawings envelop and question the night and dreams. She sees sleep as a strange journey that allows us, day after day, to reinvent ourselves and rediscover the world around us. And she wonders whether jellyfish dream too. Author, Mélanie Rutten Director, Jean-Philippe Naas
