Aephanemer: the rise of a French metal band Founded in Toulouse in 2013 by Martin Hamiche, Aephanemer has developed a distinctive sound over the years, combining Scandinavian influences, symphonic orchestrations and melodic death metal. Their EP Know Thyself (2014), followed by the album Memento Mori (2016), laid the foundations for a dense and ambitious musical world. Signing with Napalm Records, followed by the reissue of Prokopton in 2019, greatly expanded their European reach. In 2021, A Dream of Wilderness, produced with Dan Swanö and Mika Jussila, deepened the fusion of extreme metal and orchestral arrangements with folk and medieval touches. Their fourth album, Utopie (2025), marked a turning point with the adoption of French as their singing language. The band has notably appeared on major stages such as Hellfest, Motocultor and Wacken Open Air. Do not miss the Aephanemer concert in Lyon either if you would like to see them live. How to get to Le Dodo in Marseille? The Le Dodo restaurant in Marseille, located in the 6th arrondissement, is served by several RTM public transport lines. By bus, the “Belle de Mai La Friche” stop can be reached via lines 49 and 56 (night line 582 available). By metro, lines M1 and M2 go to Gare Saint-Charles station, followed by a 15-minute walk. Line M1 also serves Cinq Avenues-Longchamp station (15 minutes on foot). By tram, line T2 stops at Longchamp, a 10-minute walk from the venue. For people arriving by car, access is exclusively via the Simon entrance, at 12 rue François Simon (the Jobin entrance is reserved for pedestrians). A paid “Champ de Mai” parking lot with 86 spaces is available nearby, with 1 hour 30 minutes free, followed by €0.40 per 15-minute period (visitor rate). The site is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility: a freight elevator, adapted paths, accessible restrooms and a hearing loop are available during events. Our recommendation: take tram line T2 to Longchamp, then walk just 10 minutes to Le Dodo, avoiding parking difficulties. If you enjoy metal evenings at this venue, note that Messa will also be performing at Le Dodo soon in Marseille — another great opportunity to discover the venue’s rock and metal program.
