A gripping one-woman show that reveals, word by word, a story of familial and systemic violence. On stage, a woman recalls childhood memories and family meals, summoning legendary heroines from the Middle Ages: the female knights. At the same time, through a series of phone calls, we discover her legal journey and her struggle as an adult woman against silence. The pieces of this puzzle then come together before our eyes. The crime is revealed, as are an entire society’s acts of cowardice in the face of incest. Revisiting elements of her life through the lens of childhood imagination, Nolwenn Le Doth embodies a personal and political quest with total commitment. This autofictional show uncompromisingly examines, beyond the family circle, the grip of patriarchy and rape culture. Accompanied by an ensemble of female singers, like an ancient Greek chorus, the author and performer shows us the path toward freeing speech and the need for collective awareness. Text, direction and performance: Nolwenn Le Doth. Performers: Singing: Fiona Ait Bounou, Chiara Davis, Sybille Giard, Valérie Gonzalez, Holly Hinton-Smith, Léa Lachat alternating with Lilia Ruocco, Mathilde Merigot, Carole Winandy.
