Festival De Vives Voix

A vocal arts festival organized by Les Voies du Chant. True to our artistic direction, this edition takes shape as a journey through time and around the world, with numerous colorful stops. Crafted from personal favorites, discoveries and a passion for passing things on, the program unfolds like a fan opened simply for the pleasure of a shared musical moment. The voice takes center stage in all its forms, from tradition to creation on the cutting edge of expression, like a revealer of history—the stories of everyone and each of us. It will open with Chanteurs de jardin on Sunday, August 30, as the various choirs, like street criers, proclaim the world’s repertoires in Marseille’s parks and announce the festival. A focus on the singers of Archipel 49 will surprise audiences in Longchamp Park. Sacred music has always held an important place in our program. Martin Palmeri’s Misatango, a contemporary mass, will delight us at Saint Peter and Saint Paul Church, where we have gathered for many years. A three-day stop in the courtyard of Palais Carli (Conservatoire Pierre Barbizet) allows us to present a high-quality program in a magnificent setting. This year, it is a story of strings: vocal cords, of course, joined by the harp, violin, double bass and cellos—an orchestra of cellos—to accompany a voice, a great voice! The Archipel 49 auditorium will be devoted primarily to an acoustic program, allowing artists who wish to do so to reconnect directly with the audience. The room’s configuration showcases them, and we offer artists the pleasure of acoustic music and singing in this beautiful setting. Creation, tradition, chants, songs and polyphonies, like bouquets, in the auditorium, at the Comptoir and in the corridors where the voice dances, wanders and echoes, delight us. At Archipel 49, our House of Song, Music and Storytelling, music is a celebration, and De Vives Voix is an opportunity for discovery and sharing. It is at the Cité de la Musique, our loyal accomplice and partner, that we will close the festivities of this 22nd edition. Laurène Barnel and Carine Habauzit of the duo Leï present Feu de Vie, a creation for voice and synthesizer, and Les Dames de la Joliette share their latest creation, TAMBORADAS DE AMOR, songs of love and revolt as a final bouquet. The voice, the voices, for our pleasure, return to celebrate the end of summer, like a book whose pages are turned day by day. We meet there for the pleasure of listening and singing. Everyone is welcome on this new journey.
