Journées Européennes du Patrimoine au Musée Cantini

European Heritage Days at the Musée Cantini. For their 43rd edition, the European Heritage Days will take place on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026, on the theme "Photographic Heritage". "Through an Unbound Language," a new tour of the modern and contemporary collections The new tour at the Musée Cantini offers a fresh reading of its collections through the history of Marseille, a port city shaped by exchange, migration and cultural mixing. It highlights an open and plural vision of modern and contemporary art, bringing artists from different cultures into dialogue. The tour breaks down the barriers between artistic disciplines and gives greater prominence to women artists, experimental practices and creations from the Global South. Finally, its scenography and graphic identity reflect this commitment to inclusion and cultural diversity through contemporary typefaces designed by women. ˃ "Photographic Heritage" As part of the national theme for the 2026 edition, the museum is offering short talks about works from its collection. Photography underwent a major turning point in the 1920s with the New Vision movement. Many photographers, including Germaine Krull and László Moholy-Nagy, came to Marseille, drawn by the transporter bridge, a fabulous testing ground for modernist experimentation. Experiments with framing and viewing angles produced new visual dynamics. Through their technical and formal explorations, photographers asserted the existence of a vocabulary specific to their practice and confirmed the possibility of photographic art. Saturday, September 19 at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. No reservation, subject to availability ˃ EX-POSE(S) by Héla Fattoumi and Éric Lamoureux – VIADANSE These two dance duets, one female and the other male, poetically, sensually and playfully explore the work of two emblematic 20th-century sculptors: Henri Laurens and Ousmane Sow.
