In a present marked by violence, inequality and multiple forms of oppression, joy ceases to be a mere emotion and becomes an ACT OF RESISTANCE. A way of sustaining life when everything seems headed toward collapse. This motivation gave rise to JOY, LABotilar’s new creation: a contemporary dance piece infused with the emotional and symbolic power of flamenco. This—born of rupture, cultural mixing and resistance—emerges here as an embodied memory. Capable of transforming hurt into rhythm, pain into intensity and fragility into celebration. The work places two bodies on a stage of tensions, rules and structures of control, where play becomes a metaphor for existence. In this universe, the figure of the DJ appears as an almost divine presence who, through sound and light, changes the atmosphere of the stage and modulates the delicate balance between order, chaos and freedom. It is precisely in this friction that Joy resides: a space where falling and impulse coexist. Where joy does not appear as a denial of hurt, but as the ability to move through it and transform it into a VITAL force.
