A free-form work that escapes its frame, opening up a humorous and striking collective reflection on psychological suffering and emancipation. It is a personal story that becomes a work of collective thought. As a child, Kristina Chaumont learned that her mother suffered from bipolar disorder. She was six when the diagnosis fell like a sentence. The fear initially caused by the episodes gradually gave way to anger toward the psychiatric institution. What does it mean to be ill? What is care? The author, director and performer immersed herself in books and analyzed her own journey, but through this performance she wants to continue the reflection collectively, “to set out in search of paths toward emancipation.” Here, “setting out” should be taken literally: it is truly about standing up together and moving outdoors to find a space for healing where people can share and find peace. When the group formed by Marseille Devant, ADIM Provence and Rougerie + Tangram was named the winner of the municipal call for projects “Les Pépites Patrimoniales” with the Les Dames project, presented last February by Benoît Payan, Mayor of Marseille, the ambition was clear: to bring the former headquarters of the Compagnie Paquet back to life and create, in the heart of Marseille, a place capable of bringing together the professions of cinema, audiovisual production and the creative industries within a single ecosystem.
