Le paradoxe de John

As part of, and co-programmed with, the actoral Festival Every Thursday, a group of slightly odd friends busies itself setting up an art gallery. In performance mode, on this famous day of the week, they come charging in wearing jeans and cowboy boots, dressed for the great western that is the art world, with its codes and deliriums. At the center of the action is a pseudo art lover who organizes poetry evenings. His carefully selected guests are invited to give free rein to their creativity: they experiment, tinker and seriously multiply fanciful, sometimes completely wild interventions and inventions! Caricature naturally plays a part in this offbeat piece by Philippe Quesne. He casts an uncompromising eye on art—this unclassifiable and sometimes inaccessible world—in which cynicism vies with melancholy. The framework for this powerful and playful text comes from Marseille poet Laura Vasquez. Fragments of poetry by Paul Nougé, another of the director’s favorite authors, are woven into it, giving us a pure moment of mischievous delicacy. The October 7 evening is preceded by a reading in the Studio The October 8 evening is preceded by a reading on the Stage
