The new Old Port Grand Food Market. The City of Marseille offers a food market every Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Old Port. This unique market takes place along Quai de la Fraternité, from the Ombrière to La Samaritaine, and features around thirty stalls selling quality, seasonal products sourced through short supply chains. Vendors offer fruit, vegetables, cheese, charcuterie and meat, seafood, spices and aromatic herbs, drinks, bread, prepared dishes, etc. Fooding areas, in the form of food trucks, are also set up in addition to the usual fish market. Committed to showcasing the diversity of Mediterranean agricultural production and gastronomy, while making this unique initiative a weekly event for everyone, the City of Marseille will also organize activities, talks and cooking workshops at the market. Sunday, December 7: special Christmas market with tastings and activities This Sunday, December 7, the Old Port food market is offering various activities related to the holiday season. Children or participants will be welcomed in groups of no more than 8 to 10 people. Each of them will be able to handle and decorate a biscuit, which they can then take home to enjoy. As part of the activity, alongside instruction in basic techniques and the use of simple pastry-making tools, the ingredients of Provence and the importance of local products will be highlighted.
