Mauricio Vallina

Cuban pianist Mauricio Vallina, born in Havana, lives in Valencia, Spain, where he once won the José-Iturbi Competition. After studying on the island, surrounded by magical realism, Mauricio Vallina furthered his training at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, then at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid. Meeting Martha Argerich changed his life. They often played two-piano works together and remain close friends. On this All Saints’ Day Sunday, Mauricio Vallina has created a transcendent, intensely spiritual and virtuosic program centered on Franz Liszt, which could be titled: “What Lives Await Us After Death?” PROGRAM BACH-LISZT Fantasy and Fugue in G minor, BWV 542 LISZT Totentanz S 126 - Paraphrase on the Dies Iræ Gondoliera Valse Oubliée No. 1 S 215 Mephisto Waltz No. 3 S 216
