An irreverent farce full of mischief and excess in Rabelais’s ever-topical world. How can we keep joy alive in the world we live in? The life of the giant Pantagruel, born in Utopia, offers an inspiring answer. Here we are at his side, traveling from city to city across France, then searching for the Divine Bottle with his friend Panurge. The two companions turn every difficulty into an opportunity to celebrate the value of friendship and outwit misfortune. They carry us into a thunderous epic in which laughter becomes an act of resistance. Malte Schwind and his young team throw themselves into it wholeheartedly: words and interjections fly, and the lines provide the performers with a wonderful subversive playground. This devastating humor restores all its popular magic to theater and all its political power to laughter. Performed in Middle French, in the flavorful and surprisingly familiar language of the sixteenth century, the show renews each evening the desire to ward off the fear inspired by our world. Directed by Malte Schwind, based on François Rabelais With Julie Cardile, Sarah Cosset, Julien Geffroy, Eloïse Guérineau and Mayeul Victor-Pujebet.
