TRANSLATION BEHIND THE SCENES A series of meetings and workshops about translation in the Mediterranean, devised in collaboration with ATLAS, an association promoting literary translation. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 AT 10 A.M. > Alcazar, auditorium Introductory workshop in literary translation - Arabic Sarah Rolfo was born in 1979 in Ghent, Belgium. After living and teaching in Syria, she moved to Paris, where she worked in the publishing and translation world. She now lives in Marseille. She translates contemporary Arab authors, including children’s literature. She is particularly attuned to committed writing and texts that shake up, move and question language and the world. Most recently, she translated Du pain sur la table de l’oncle Milad by Mohammed Alnaas, published by Le Bruit du Monde (2024). She will explain how she translates Italian blended with Sicilian, as well as her work revising some of her translations on the occasion of their republication. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24 AT 10 A.M. > Alcazar, auditorium Introductory workshop in literary translation – Greek Aude Fondard has danced, written and translated since 2008, moving between English, German and modern Greek, and is interested in texts about art, bodies, minorities and territory. This introductory literary translation workshop invites you to reflect on orality and the fluidity of language, which will not merely be read but also spoken and embodied by actors. Excerpts from Alexandra K*’s contemporary Greek play Méthodes révolutionnaires pour nettoyer votre piscine (Patakis Editions, 2018) will serve as the basis for the workshop.
