SiDoReLa, l’influenceuse tous azimuts

Following the success of Illusions, a satire about AI, comes Valérie Miquel’s new satirical comedy, SiDoReLaUne, a solo satirical play featuring an ever-present influencer, as well as the mysterious progression of a “consciousness” that emerges like a virus in her artificial universe and ultimately leads her to find herself. Sidorela, whom I was able to catch a glimpse of at the Petit Théâtre des Îles during a gathering, is very different from the character of Léonie Lumineuse, the dancer in Valérie Miquel’s last successful play Illusions, who has more than one trick up her sleeve—and Sidorela, I assure you, is impressively full of surprises. Humor, certainly, but hidden within the comedy are small messages about our consumer society and other issues. I won’t say more. Bravo Valérie Miquel for this wonderful new stage production, which is sure to amaze more than a few people. From directing dance schools and dance-theater companies in France to creating Afro-contemporary ballets in Uganda and Ghana, and in India, as well as the Trio Musique Visuelle in Heidelberg (Germany), she has never stopped pushing back the boundaries of dance, theater and the performing arts.
