The Upsessions: twenty years of ska and Jamaican reggae Founded in 2005 in the Netherlands by trombonist Giel Mulder and singer-guitarist Boss van Trigt, The Upsessions quickly established themselves as one of the most authentic groups on the European reggae and ska scene. In 2006, the group signed with the British label Moon Ska World and released their first album, The New Heavyweight Champion, in 2007, laying the foundations for a vintage sound rooted in Jamaican early reggae. Over the years, the group expanded its discography with notable collaborations, including Shake It! in 2014 alongside the legendary Lee "Scratch" Perry, whose tracks have been used in American films and TV series. In 2025, the group celebrated 20 years in the business before releasing Sheriff Double Gun in 2026 with Monty Neysmith (Symarip), through the Aggrobeat Records label.
