Free concert by reservation Cold wave and folk This musical project is the result of a meeting between Scottish singer Emma Foreman and French guitarist Yan Péchin, known for his collaborations with artists such as Alain Bashung, Brigitte Fontaine and Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine, among others. An album that can be described as surprising and promising, with tracks such as “Landscape,” “Stomach Parlor” and its sharp guitars, “Waiting Room,” “Piss of Shit” and “The Other Side,” which evoke the atmosphere of the Velvet Underground, or hints of King Crimson combining melancholy and distorted guitars. Among the album’s highlights are Emma Foreman’s enchanting voice, Yan Péchin’s disjointed and haunting guitars—the sound sculptor—and an atmosphere steeped in melancholy and cold wave. Indie rock’n’roll and power pop Remaining under the harsh light of Marseille’s streets after 24 years of a career, riding out the lows after acclaimed and extraordinary albums, launching EPs like blind arrows into an impassive sky, returning to the forefront thanks to the Stranglers, bouncing back with a new line-up: rising, falling, rising again, falling again, gritting one’s teeth while keeping one’s sincerity intact—is that what it means to forge one’s path in indie rock, no matter what, along the blinding shores of the Mediterranean? A loser one day, a hero the next, in a foolish sequence of darkness and light, temporarily withdrawn in a ghost town, then, without any real transition, once again splashed with flashes every night, from stage to stage, all the way to the Olympia? Failing, succeeding, living or dying, loving and building, continuing to believe in sequences of chords—that is the price to pay for rock music, this devout lover capable of decapitating as quickly as it seduces, leaving people equally cast aside or beneath ovations, at the mere whim of fate.
