ACOUSMODROME sessions

Following the prominent place given to experimental cinema in its program, Videodrome 2 has hosted the Acousmodrome series for several years. The series offers sessions of auditory—and sometimes visual—experimentation and immersion centered on acousmatic works, in collaboration with various composers and performers, as well as the electroacoustic and film-music classes at the Conservatoire de Musique and the Cité de la Musique. Acousmodrome brings together a network of artists, teachers, students, institutions and associations united by contemporary sound creation. Each session’s program, woven together by many hands, unfolds around a particular setup: the acousmonium, an orchestra of loudspeakers that transforms the Videodrome 2 auditorium into a space for spatialized listening. This shared tool is a true common workspace, where sound creation, teaching and research meet, offering audiences very distinctive listening experiences.

For the first session of the season, we’re starting small with a session focused on the microsonic: sounds heard up close, and barely perceptible vibrations. The spotlight will be on tsss tapes, a label for electro-acoustic and improvised music based in Perugia, Italy. After the session, you’ll have the chance to experiment with various instruments that can create these microsounds: amplified surfaces, different types and configurations of contact microphones, and objects that are barely musical.

The box office opens 30 minutes before each screening.

We use a pay-what-you-can system (everyone pays what they want/can/feel is fair). We believe pay-what-you-can pricing gives everyone the opportunity to experience the things that interest them and to value the work accomplished as they see fit.

Membership in the association is required to attend screenings. It is available from 8€ and is valid for one calendar year. You can join online: for those who wish and are able to, membership also allows you to support us by adding an amount of your choice.
