Activités en famille à Marseille pendant les vacances de la Toussaint
About this event
From October 17 to November 1, 2026, the City of Marseille is offering a wide range of activities for children and their parents during the Toussaint school holidays. Museums, libraries, swimming pools, an ice rink, educational farms and an escape game at the Municipal Archives: there are plenty of varied activities, most of them completely free.
Toussaint holidays in Marseille: a family program of culture, sports and nature
Every year during the school holidays, the City of Marseille brings together its entire family program in one initiative. For Toussaint 2026, outings for children in Marseille cover a broad range: temporary exhibitions, creative workshops, supervised sports activities and even opportunities to discover nature in the city. There’s plenty to keep the kids busy from morning to night, without having to go far.
The highlight of these holidays is the Pass' vacances, which provides free access to municipal museums and their temporary exhibitions, municipal swimming pools, as well as the ice rink and skatepark at Palais Omnisports de Marseille Grand-Est, for children under 12 (on presentation of proof of age) and one accompanying adult per child. This is a significant effort by the city to make culture and sports accessible to all Marseille families.
Marseille, in the heart of the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region, has a particularly extensive network of municipal facilities, making this program varied and spread throughout the city. Please note, however, that some municipal facilities will be closed on Sunday, November 1, so it is advisable to check opening hours before setting out.
Culture, sports and the great outdoors: what Marseille has in store for children this fall
The municipal museums have plenty to offer. From Vieille Charité to Château Borély, current exhibitions take children on a journey through a variety of worlds, from Art Nouveau to vintage photography. At Château de la Buzine, the exhibition Sempé, rêver le monde celebrates the illustrator of Le Petit Nicolas and the covers of Marcel Pagnol’s works, with original drawings, brushes and watercolors. Art courses and workshops (creative writing, caricature, diorama-making…) are held at the same venue from October 20 to 30, free of charge with advance registration. The exhibition is open until March 30, 2027, with admission priced at 5 € / 4 € (reduced).
Municipal libraries also have plenty to offer, with storytelling, reading clubs, workshops and games, all free of charge. And for thrill-seekers, the Municipal Archives is hosting a historical escape game in search of the Livre rouge, a precious 13th-century manuscript hidden during the liberation of Marseille in August 1944. Sessions take place from October 20 to 30 at 10 h 30 and 14 h 30 (duration: 1 h), free of charge with reservations at dgac-archives@marseille.fr.
For families who prefer the outdoors, Marseille also offers a wonderful natural playground. The botanical garden at Parc Borély brings together 3 000 plant species from five continents and can be visited freely, with free registration. The city’s four nature centers, two educational farms located on former country estates, and numerous hiking trails round out an offering designed to help young people discover their environment. The Tremplin Sport program, free for ages 6-14, offers climbing, roller skating and archery at the city’s sports facilities.
