About this event

At the beginning of the year, the Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry – le Crédac hosted “Andiamo,” a joint exhibition by Pierre Charpin and Nathalie Du Pasquier. Interweaving their respective practices, the exhibition now continues in the form of a book published by Éditions Fotokino, halfway between a catalogue and an artist’s book. As part of Tangible, Pierre and Nathalie will be in Marseille to celebrate its launch in an informal conversation with the public.

Nathalie Du Pasquier
Nathalie Du Pasquier was born in Bordeaux in 1957. In 1979, she moved to Italy and settled in Milan, where she began working by designing fabrics. While participating in the Memphis group, of which she was a founding member, she also designed objects and furniture, but in 1987 she abandoned
her design practice to devote herself to painting. Having never attended art school, she approached this new practice independently. Paintings of objects became her main subject; in the 2000s, she developed small painted wooden constructions that gradually led her toward a more abstract form of painting. Little by little, her work evolved into installations combining paintings and constructions.
She still lives in Milan and regularly exhibits her work in Italy and abroad.

Pierre Charpin
A designer, visual artist and scenographer, Pierre Charpin was born in Paris in 1962. He graduated in visual arts from the École des Beaux-Arts de Bourges in 1984. Since 1990, he has focused primarily on furniture and object design while continuing his artistic practice. He collaborates with internationally renowned companies and publishers. At the same time, his work is shown in galleries, including Galerie Kreo, which has produced his limited-edition furniture and lighting since 2005; the Yvon Lambert bookshop-gallery; and Galerie Giorgio Mastinu in Venice, where he regularly presents his drawings and visual research. As a scenographer, he has collaborated with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design in Bordeaux, and the Milan Triennale. He works in Ivry-sur-Seine and lives in Paris.
