Arthur Gomez - Please stand up
l’Art Dû theatre welcomes Arthur Gomez, who explores the intimate relationship with idols in Please Stand Up!
About this event
The word personality comes from the Latin persona: the mask.
But behind the fan’s mask, who is really hiding? Arthur Gomez is passionate about Eminem, to the point of having built his relationship with the world around the one known as Slim Shady.
The rapper’s influence is such that the word Stan (taken from one of his songs) has even entered the Oxford Dictionary to describe obsessive fans.
But at a time when idols, influencers and stars are taking up more and more space, when we identify with public figures to the point of becoming indistinguishable from them, one question remains: does the fan’s mask hide who we are… or reveal what we do not dare to be?
Between humor, confidences, punchlines and absurd detours, Please Stand Up explores this intimate relationship with idols. It is not only the story of a boy from Grenoble who dreamed of becoming Eminem: it is also the story of a mask we all wear one day, and what it reveals when we dare to take it off.
“I guess there’s a Slim Shady in all of us, fuck it… let’s all Stand-Up.”
