Concert Bachar Mar-Khalifé joue Christophe
Christophe’s songs, filtered through Bachar Mar-Khalifé’s voice and musical world.
Les Mots bleus, La Dolce vita, Les Paradis perdus… Six years after Christophe’s death, Bachar Mar-Khalifé ventures into the repertoire of one of the most singular artists in French chanson. A meeting that is no coincidence: in 2018, the two musicians met at the Maison de la Radio to record Jnoun, a piece written and composed by Bachar Mar-Khalifé and performed as a duet.
At the piano, accompanied by Jérôme Arrighi (bass, double bass) and Dogan Poyraz (drums, percussion), the Lebanese composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist does not seek to imitate Christophe: he brings the songs into his own musical world. He rediscovers their fragility, mystery and romantic vertigo, as well as their pulses and flights between jazz, electro and Lebanese resonances. From one voice to another, from one Mediterranean to another, an astonishing musical kinship emerges between two artists devoted to freedom and resistant to labels: the Beau Bizarre and the unclassifiable Bachar Mar-Khalifé.
To listen to Bachar Mar-Khalifé joue Christophe, Balcoon/Idol/BigWax, September 2026.
