Balade Urbaine : Histoire et mémoires de la réparation navale à Marseille. (2)

The walk highlights various aspects of “la répa”: passion for the profession, training and career paths, technological developments and workplace risks, social welfare policies and trade unionism. This walk illustrates the close connection with Marseille’s urban development in the 19th and 20th centuries. The itinerary will be enhanced by listening to audio excerpts, viewing archival documents and aerial photographs, and visiting the La Navale museum, dedicated to the history of “la répa”.

The design of this walk draws on a collection carried out by Paroles Vives in 2015: A social history of the area through the oral memories of industries in Marseille. Interviews are available on the website of the sound archive of the SHS Media Library of the MMSH.
