Tangible 2026 - Bambou scratch
About this event
Conceived by designers Lili Gayman and Baptiste Viala, Bambou-scratch is a construction workshop for children aged 6 to 10, inviting them to freely experiment with ways of assembling.
Using cardboard tubes painted green to evoke bamboo stalks and covered with hook-and-loop strips, the children handle a simple, lightweight and playful material that allows them to assemble, disassemble and endlessly recompose. This intuitive system encourages an active approach to construction: make, unmake, start again, alone or together.
The workshop evokes the construction site, the hut and collective play. It offers a sensitive exploration of structure, form and balance, while leaving room for the imagination. Between abstraction and intention, children can follow a specific idea or let the gesture guide them.
The installation also plays with two scales: that of the hand, through the model, and that of the body, when the constructions take shape collectively. This shift allows participants to experience the transition from idea to concrete realization and to approach the notion of co-construction.
The workshop takes place in two stages:
A first discovery phase, involving the creation of models from cardboard straws and adhesive dots, accompanied by references from design and architecture;
A second collective phase, in which selected models are co-constructed as large-scale volumes—a mini participatory construction site.
