Dedicated to the decorative arts, the museum presents a selection of 2,500 works in the Château Borély: furniture, ceramics, glassware, tapestries, objets d’art, rare exotic objects, design and fashion collections, from the 18th century to the present day. Visitors will discover works displayed in “period rooms” and themed galleries: superb collections of 18th-century faience (from the Marseille and Moustiers factories, among others) and 19th-century faience (including an important collection of ceramics by Théodore Deck), major decorative ensembles by the painter Louis Chaix, leather hangings, panoramic wallpaper from the famous Zuber factory, and series of painted canvases by Philippe Rey. Depending on the museum’s current programme, the Fashion Department offers the opportunity to admire creations by Madeleine Vionnet, Pierre Balmain, Christian Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, Elisabeth de Senneville, and others, as well as works by contemporary designers. The displays are regularly renewed. Works by current designers, specially created for the museum—including the chandelier in the grand vestibule by designer Mathieu Lehanneur, the mirrors by Hubert Le Gall and the tapestries by Laurence Aegerter—are integrated into the visitor route. ► To be sure of being able to enjoy the complete tour of all our exhibition rooms, we invite you to contact the Museum before your visit ► All visits and activities related to the exhibition are available on the museums’ website
