About this event

Many fantasies surround the image of the author, often solitary, male and possessed of an inimitable genius. However, bringing a book into existence is teamwork, and at the heart of this work lies the more or less intimate relationship between each author and the publishers who support them. But publishing is also a world of seduction: each author must find the publishing house that suits them and convince its publishers to follow them, while each editorial team must select the manuscripts it wants to take to the presses.

But then, what do publishers want? What are they looking for when they open a manuscript? How do they choose which one to publish? Welcome behind the scenes of publishing!

Wildproject, a publishing house specializing in ecology, publishes around fifteen titles a year in the fields of the humanities, political ecology and literature, across six collections.

Organized by: PLACE PUBLIQUE

Les Rencontres Place Publique, created in 1994 by Jacques Serrano, initially brought together French and foreign intellectuals to invite them to activate, within the field of art, the systems of thought specific to their disciplines—sociology, philosophy—and are considered by many intellectuals and art-world professionals to be the most relevant moments for reflection on art in France today. Counter to popularization, and in favor of dissemination, they have always prioritized intellectual rigor, in a spirit of pleasure.

Based in Marseille, Les Rencontres Place Publique have been invited in particular to Columbia University New York, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, the Palais de Tokyo, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art (Paris), and the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal, thus giving Marseille and its region international visibility in the field of artistic thought.

La Semaine de la Pop Philosophie, created in 2009, is an event whose aim is to enable philosophical explorations based on iconoclastic objects from popular and media culture, and which also seeks to foster innovation in formats for intellectual exchange.
