Défense d'effacer
From November 2 to December 18, the Maison de l'architecture et de la ville presents the exhibition “défense d’effacer,” co-produced with Angéline Capon, a doctoral student at the Project[s] laboratory (ensa•m, amU).
About this event
Posters supporting the right to housing, banners opposing touristification or anti-gentrification tags: all are temporary forms that appear outdoors, on walls, storefronts and scaffolding, then disappear, are covered over or torn down.
At a remove from the commercial images that saturate public space, these urban ephemera address, alert, bring people together or challenge.
The exhibition starts with these fragile, temporary documents to open up a space for inquiry where they are not only displayed and preserved, but also activated, recomposed and reprinted.
It was conceived collectively and carefully created by the team at the Maison de l’architecture et de la ville and Angéline Capon as an immersive, participatory experience that allows everyone to engage as fully as possible with the subject of ephemera.
Opening on Wednesday, November 4, from 6:30 p.m.
