Exposition "Zone de convergence"

Zone de convergence was born from a meeting, a dialogue between three forces: Karine Debouzie’s artistic work, focused on the progression and intersection of forms; Saint-Victor Abbey, a heritage site of rare intensity; and the Friends of Saint-Victor, an association committed to defending this heritage.

For more than twenty years, Karine Debouzie has developed a sculptural practice based on interweaving, tension and the repetition of modules, bringing the paradoxes inherent in every system into relation. Zone de convergence is a new stage: an installation made up of three-dimensional modules assembled from steel strip, aluminium, wood and light. These seemingly heterogeneous materials are brought together for their physical and symbolic complementarity: the strength and fragility of black metal, the reflective luminosity of aluminium, the organic matter of wood, and light, which reveals, emphasises and brings spaces together. The modules, identical in design, form a different whole with each assembly—in resonance with the architectural configuration of the crypt, its vaults, niches, fissures and millennia-old depth. The installation will be presented during the European Heritage Days, inviting the public to a sensory and contemplative experience between contemporary art and living memory.
