About this event

From October 9 to 11, 2026, Marseille becomes a shared listening space. Like a seashell held to the ear, Bruits Roses amplifies voices both near and far, languages and stories in which the intimate meets the collective.
In a world turning inward, Bruits Roses listens closely and unfolds stories. From Algiers to Tunis, Amman to Casablanca, and Athens to Marseille, podcasts, radio and sound works tell stories of young people and diasporas, intersecting identities and heritage, as well as how wars, borders and systems of domination affect lives and territories. From October 9 to 11, 2026, Marseille becomes a shared listening space. Like a seashell held to the ear, Bruits Roses amplifies voices both near and far, languages and stories in which the intimate meets the collective. Circulating these stories also means asking who chooses what we listen to, from where and in which language. This year, Bruits Roses opens its program to other festivals and sound programmers from Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan and Greece. Multiple voices and languages shift power dynamics and sketch out a sensitive geopolitics of listening. Bruits Roses also explores sound in all its forms. For this second edition, sound is exhibited, finds echoes in films and books, is performed, welcomes young ears and travels out to sea. For three days, let’s open the seashell wide to voices, languages, stories and shared frequencies.

► SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10, 10 AM–6 PM

• Cinema for the Ear
All day, listening sessions open a sound window onto Marseille and the Mediterranean. From Morocco to Palestine, Greece to Egypt, via Algeria and Tunisia, documentaries, personal stories and soundscapes tell of languages, exile, memories and everyday life. In a softly lit cocoon, works can be listened to in full, in their original language with subtitles.

• Sound installations - Let the Nacre Shine
What sounds reach those who live near the Mediterranean, spend time by it and want to protect it? And what message would you like to leave it? Bruits Roses brings together voices and sound installations by Marseille’s emerging sound artists, listening closely to document the changes affecting this shared sea. In a sound exhibition unfolding across a series of listening stations, the public is invited to wander through fragments of this sea that we must preserve more than ever.

• Sound Siesta - Côte à Côte (2–3 pm session)
Sitting on the beach, side by side, we listen to one another and talk, gazing into the distance toward the sea. This one-hour sound siesta is free to attend and brings together sound stories from the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean (two broadcasts played one after the other).
In partnership with the Longueur d’Ondes Festival.

• Live Podcast: Counter-Masculinities (2–2:50 pm session)
At a time when masculinist rhetoric is gaining ground everywhere, what does it mean to "be a man" today? In Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria, creators bring their microphones together to dismantle norms of masculinity and their legacies.
With Soufiane Hennani (Machi Rojola - Morocco), Mohamed Triki (Borjouliya - Tunisia) and Reslane Lounici (Les Z’Hommes, Algeria)

• Voces feministas, Listening to Violence (3–4 pm)
In France and Spain, feminist movements have brought new voices to the fore on gender-based and sexual violence. But how can sound, in turn, make them heard? Released this year, Queen of Bongo in France and No sé cómo era antes in Spain explore how sound and listening can serve as spaces for storytelling, investigation and healing.
With Sara Selva and Manu Tomillo (No sé como era antes - Spain), Léna Rivière (Queen of Bongo - France) and Marie Misset

• Lebanon: What War Does to the Intimate (11 am–12:30 pm)
What does war do to our places, our bonds and our memories? And how can we tell its story when it also runs through our own? Through podcasts, documentary films and archives, Lebanese creators tell of war from an intimate perspective: a family, a city, a place scarred by bombing, sounds that persist. A conversation to listen to the voices of those who watch over others, care for them, pass things on and stand firm. Because listening and talking to one another is already a refusal of silence and an attempt to make sense of chaos.
With Anthony Tawil ("Maabar" - Lebanon ), Sarah Srage ("Entre les guerres" - France & Lebanon), presented by Camille Juzeau.
In partnership with AFLAM

• Eldoradio (broadcast) (2:30–3 pm)
Settle into a deckchair and join musical artist and radio activist Mona HKL for a narrated DJ set exploring the airwaves of southern Europe. Radio fragments, recordings and musical selections come together to tell how radio shapes territories and create, under the open sky, a sensitive portrait of our relationship with sound.

• Sound Archipelago (live radio show + DJ set) (3:30–5 pm)
From Marseille’s ancient port, Bruits Roses takes you on an airwave journey to explore the Marseille-Arles-Forcalquier sound archipelago. A live radio show in the open air and before an audience, introducing other local radio creators. Away from major production centers, radio stations, festivals, studios and collectives are bringing an inventive, independent regional sound scene to life. And after the microphones, it’s time for the turntables and a closing DJ set! With Radio des Suds, Phonurgia, Musée Réattu, Numéro Zéro, Shabba Radio, Léna Rivière and Kevin Derveaux. In partnership with Radio Grenouille.
