About this event

Producing in France has become a real challenge. Economic, logistical and technical constraints direct manufacturing choices toward models in which profitability determines competitiveness in a globalized market, considerably reducing the range of possible alternatives.

The fragmentation of production chains, reliance on offshoring and the massive use of plastic materials have gradually intensified a polarization of the market, from which the furniture sector is not exempt.

On one side are mass-market products at extremely competitive prices, mostly manufactured abroad to reduce costs. Their quality varies greatly, and their design often favors inexpensive materials with a high environmental impact that are rarely incorporated into a genuine recycling system.

On the other are high-end pieces, produced locally with greater rigor in the choice of materials and know-how. More virtuous aesthetically, ethically and qualitatively, they nevertheless involve high production costs that often make them elitist.

Faced with these two extremes, the aïe-design studio advocates an alternative approach to manufacturing: a contemporary manufacture combining the respective capabilities of industry and craftsmanship.

HOP is a collection of manufactured furniture, produced in series to order for architecture and interior-design professionals.

A pragmatic set of specifications.

Through a comprehensive approach to the project, we design and manufacture each piece according to principles of durability, coherence and simplicity.

Conceived as a responsible experience, HOP promotes local production, controlled manufacturing choices and a resilient vision of reindustrialization.

The concept takes shape in a “hybrid manufacture,” where industrial technologies and artisanal know-how meet subtly. This approach frees itself from purely consumerist logic in order to place people at the heart of design and production processes.

To keep prices accessible, the project’s economic policy is based on two essential principles: a simple, controlled production method, and the use of a single material whose cost changes with the market. This approach ensures fair, transparent pricing updated in real time.

This edition is intended to expand according to uses and needs, applying the same construction principle through an approach based on exchange, transparency and adaptability.
