Il était une fois les Vieux-Quartiers - MHM
About this event
Active since 2019, the Collectif Saint-Jean 1943, an association bringing together survivors, descendants of victims and memory activists, conducted rigorous archival research in 2025 into the tragedy of January-February 1943. Presented to its members and then published in a 216-page book, this work has taken on particular significance since French justice classified the roundups, deportations and destruction of the Saint-Jean district as a "crime against humanity".
With survivors and descendants in attendance, the discussion will highlight a civic initiative whose ongoing research is revealing new information to enrich historical understanding, honor the memory of the victims of these vanished neighborhoods and fulfill an essential mission of remembrance and transmission.
