Je déballe ma bibliothèque - Myriam Bahaffou
A bibliophile conversation with philosopher Myriam Bahaffou
About this event
A philosopher never thinks alone or from scratch. Her ideas and arguments can be traced back to the very materiality of philosophical work: examining sources, keeping up with publishing, exploring gray literature, reading English-language works that are little read in France, books reputed to be impossible to read...
La Semaine de la Pop Philosophie seeks to make visible this bibliographic and bibliophile work that characterizes the philosopher’s profession.
Organized by: PLACE PUBLIQUE
Les Rencontres Place Publique, created in 1994 by Jacques Serrano, initially brought together French and foreign intellectuals to invite them to activate, within the field of art, the systems of thought specific to their disciplines—sociology, philosophy—and are considered by many intellectuals and art-world professionals to be the most relevant moments for reflection on art in France today. Counter to popularization, and in favor of dissemination, they have always prioritized intellectual rigor, in a spirit of pleasure.
Based in Marseille, Les Rencontres Place Publique have been invited in particular to Columbia University New York, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, the Palais de Tokyo, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art (Paris), and the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal, thus giving Marseille and its region international visibility in the field of artistic thought.
La Semaine de la Pop Philosophie, created in 2009, is an event whose aim is to enable philosophical explorations based on iconoclastic objects from popular and media culture, and which also seeks to foster innovation in formats for intellectual exchange.
