La poésie invite au voyage

Performance for young audiences

About this event

As the theater begins a season devoted largely to poetry, the Théâtre des Calanques team has chosen to offer school performances that immerse younger audiences in the worlds of poets who invite us to travel.

For children and young audiences, writing a poem is a field of freedom where words turn blue, red, or green, rough or lilting, tart as redcurrant juice, or soften like lit candles, sounding out loud or whispered. In a poem, we can also dream that it is possible to escape grammatical rules, the fear of making a mistake, and the demand for a properly constructed sentence: everything can be played with and turned on its head.

A poem makes its listener or reader active: their imagination awakens and takes hold of a text as if it were a path to deciphering reality. A poem evokes, inspires, unfurls its wings, and calls for a response, even a silent one.

Children will be invited on a journey in a very special stage setup, close to the artists, seated directly on the stage and carried along by musical accompaniment.

The theme of travel represents a journey from oneself toward another: the real journey is also the symbolic journey of the imagination, from childhood to adulthood, an initiatory passage that leads each listener to set off and discover the world.
