About this event

Introduction

The L’Appel des chantiers festival returns for its 8th edition on October 23, 24, and 25, 2026!

Organized by the association “Les chantiers du réel,” made up of students from Marseille’s documentary master’s program, the festival aims to screen, champion, and foster discussion around creative documentary works.

This edition’s program includes: – 15 films screened in the presence of their directors; – an opening night at the Saint-Charles faculty with a special guest, a filmmaker and former student of the documentary master’s program, who will present his latest film; – and a weekend of screenings at Videodrome 2, on Cours Julien!

This year, we are showcasing films by emerging filmmakers, students or graduates of the documentary master’s program, students from other film schools, or filmmakers who have self-produced their films, as well as films by two Tunisian filmmakers from the ISAMM school in Tunis.

Entre minuit et 6h du mat

by Makhlouf Nadja | 2025 | France, United Kingdom, Algeria | 6 min | French subtitles

In 1935, La Petite Roquette, located in Paris’s 11th arrondissement, became a women’s prison. During the Algerian War, many Algerian and French activists active in mainland France were imprisoned and sentenced there. On February 24, 1961, six of them managed to escape… This film seeks to bring to light the voices and remnants of a resistance movement that developed in mainland France during the Algerian War.

Le Bruit sourd de nos pas

by Tara Brown | 2025 | France | 1h12 | English subtitles

What remains after patriarchal violence seems to have laid everything waste? My father and I are strangely connected by two murders across generations: his sister, my brother. As we make our way through our grief, our shared joys resist annihilation. And this film keeps us moving
