About this event

Introduction

The L’Appel des chantiers festival returns for its 8th edition on October 23, 24, and 25, 2026!

Organized by the association “Les chantiers du réel,” made up of students from Marseille’s documentary master’s program, the festival aims to screen, champion, and foster discussion around creative documentary works.

This edition’s program includes: – 15 films screened in the presence of their directors; – an opening night at the Saint-Charles faculty with a special guest, a filmmaker and former student of the documentary master’s program, who will present his latest film; – and a weekend of screenings at Videodrome 2, on Cours Julien!

This year, we are showcasing films by emerging filmmakers, students or graduates of the documentary master’s program, students from other film schools, or filmmakers who have self-produced their films, as well as films by two Tunisian filmmakers from the ISAMM school in Tunis.

Falleh

by Marie-Claire Abd-El-Kader | 2026 | France, Tunisia | 14 min | French subtitles

The film explores the daily lives of Fathi, owner of a farm in Hbaybiya, Tunisia, and Nader, one of the young workers. Their agricultural work is characterized by different rhythms and tasks, offering varied timeframes and a relationship with the living world that connects them. The farm’s contemplative landscapes, such as the olive trees, their working gestures, and the animals provide a metaphorical entry point into attachment to the land. This invites us to reflect on the human footprint in a region adapting to change.

Corps poétiques

by Samantha Wilvert | 2026 | France, Tunisia | 19 min | French subtitles

In the very center of Tunis, in the working-class neighborhood of Halfaouine, stands the Tunis National Theatre. Formerly the Khaznadar Palace, it is now home to an acting school. Over the course of a day, we follow young actors who explore performance and their limits through body-centered exercises, and are pushed to draw on their inner selves. Between acting and reality, sincere performances take shape, speaking to the state of our world today while offering a personal and sensitive perspective. As they search for their place on stage, they are also searching for their place in the world.
