Le château des Souvenirs

To mark the Bicentenary of Photography, Château d’If presents a unique exhibition created from its collection of old postcards. Displayed throughout the monument’s spaces, these images engage in dialogue with the words written on the backs of the cards: fragments of memories, intimate messages, accounts of visits or testimonies from the past. In this spirit of correspondence and transmission, a participatory space will be set up inside the castle. Visitors will be invited to write to people experiencing hardship or who are hospitalized. A mailbox will also be reinstalled in the monument, echoing the one that existed more than fifty years ago and restoring writing’s role as a means of connection, care and memory.
