Tangible 2026 - Le grand bain : eau, matière, couleur
About this event
Lise Camoin is a textile designer, artist and natural dyer. Initially trained as a decorative painter, she developed an early sensitivity to color. Her encounter with natural dyes was a true revelation that permanently shaped her practice.
She trained in France with Michel Garcia, as well as during several stays in Japan, where she deepened her knowledge of traditional techniques. Today she teaches natural dyeing at SCOP Couleur Garance, which she co-founded. Alongside her teaching, she develops an artistic research practice around bio-based materials. Sensitive to ecological issues, through her practice she explores a way of easing a form of eco-anxiety by building an artistic language rooted in the living world.
Her current research project, Arundo donax, focuses on making use of Provence cane, a Mediterranean plant she harvests in a former family garden. She works with its leaves, transforming them, after a long process, into a semi-flexible textile situated between basketry and weaving.
Her work follows the structural logic of the material: the fibers intertwine freely, generating variations in volume, density and form. Each piece thus becomes the memory of a singular gesture, arising from a broader ecosystem—the artist, the plant, the soil, the garden, the South.
This approach values creation from raw material, with little or no mechanization, where the time, repetition and humility inherent to craft meet the curiosity of research and experimentation. The relationship with the plant, now transformed into material, gradually becomes more refined.
Both delicate and durable, this textile takes the form of wall-mounted or suspended works and can also be incorporated into design objects. Inspired by traditional craft techniques, it forms a contemporary language in its own right.
Baptiste Meyniel graduated from ENSCI – Les Ateliers in industrial design for his project En mouvement, en flux, en variation. This project laid the foundations for a practice rooted, on one hand, in an understanding of what material draws and, on the other, in drawing as a graphic act that opens onto the object and its materialization. This way of working became a necessity: working with his hands, in close relation to gesture and movement, to bring forms into being and allow potential uses to emerge.
This practice, developed in the workshop, led him to respond to the international call for projects launched by CIRVA (Centre International de Recherche sur le Verre et les Arts Plastiques), for which he was selected in 2019. A two-year residency in Marseille then began, allowing him to apply this approach to objects using a particular material: glass. In 2021, Baptiste was selected to take part in the Fondation Hermès Academy of Know-How devoted to glass and crystal. In 2022 he joined the JAD and moved into one of its workshops.
Firmly positioning himself as a builder of things that have uses rather than as a product designer responding to needs, the objects resulting from his approach are nevertheless interpreted to adapt to different contexts. Certain assembly methods lead him to engage in dialogue with lighting manufacturers. Two lamps designed for his graduation project were selected by Mobilier National for development within the ARC (Atelier de Recherche et Création). Some of his drawings become carpets or silk squares in response to the expectations of brands (Marlo&Isaure, Déjà Vù). Other research projects involve collaborations with galleries (A1043, Murs Blancs). His work has been exhibited at Fotokino (Marseille), Frac Champagne Ardenne (Reims), the chapelle des Calvairiennes (Mayenne) and Frac Picardie (Amiens).
Pascal Ferren trained as a philosopher and works as an urban planner. He is co-founder of the Camille Alfada agency. A consultation and user-experience agency, it supports the design and transformation of inhabited spaces with the people who live in them. At the agency, Pascal Ferren develops design-fiction approaches at the intersection of political aesthetics (discourse, representations) and situated territorial experimentation.
