Le grand Kami
In Japan, the Kami embodies the spirit of fresh water.
About this event
During this poetic and participatory performance, it comes to life in the form of a giant rattan puppet, delicately operated by three performers. The grand Kami wanders around the Place d’Armes at Fort Saint-Jean, where its gentle and calm presence captivates spectators. Its story is then revealed: having become too dry, it has lost its plant essence and seems to be seeking shelter, a return to nature. Its gaze shifts between the sea in the distance and the plant life in the Migration Garden.
Around it, “emoustilleurs” and their globols—small luminous beings with water-filled heads—offer it fragments of moss. The public is invited to take part in this symbolic revegetation by placing moss on its structure. Little by little, the Kami awakens, and a flight of birds brings this poetic dance between humans and nature to a close. An immersive experience in which emotion and movement celebrate sensitivity and reconnection with the living world.
