KLAP & Les Petites Scènes Ouvertes. This autumn, ZEF—the national stage of Marseille—in partnership with KLAP Maison pour la danse, welcomes La Grande Scène, a major national event dedicated to emerging young choreographers, supported by the Les Petites Scènes Ouvertes network. As a prelude, KLAP Maison pour la danse invites professionals and the public to discover one of the notable artists in its season: Sati Veyrunes. In June 2026, Sati Veyrunes received the award for Best Choreographic Performance at the 63rd Syndicat de la Critique awards ceremony for Motor Unit. Sati Veyrunes seeks to highlight the performer’s place in contemporary dance, often relegated to the background behind the author-choreographer, despite a crucial role in revelation and embodiment. Through reprises of two solos, driven by the desire and need for profound commitment, the breathtaking performer serves as a thread connecting the languages. Erna Ómarsdóttir, now artistic director of Iceland Dance Company, passes on to her a section of her major work, written in 2002: IBM 1401 - A User’s manual. The dancer also takes on a solo excerpt from Voice of Power by Hungarian artist Adrienn Hód, marked by the complexity and radicalism of intimate expression. With MOTOR UNIT, the body becomes the messenger of living archives, a space for rewriting that blends past and present through physical commitment, in which the performer’s plurality asserts its claim on the still-new notion of contemporary repertoire.
