About this event

Paul Moustapha Ledron is a designer based in Abidjan whose practice lies at the intersection of Caribbean, West African and European heritage. This plurality forms the foundation of a contemporary, sculptural formal language rooted in the imaginaries and expertise of West Africa. Trained in industrial design at Brunel University in London and then in branding at New Bulgarian University in Sofia, he has developed an approach that combines structural rigor, sensitivity to local materials and attention to craft traditions.

Back in Côte d’Ivoire, he has developed a singular body of work combining unique pieces, limited editions and mass-produced objects, each carrying a precise narrative intention. His work has been presented at Paris Design Week, the 2024 Biennale of Contemporary African Art in Dakar, where he was among the designers selected after the discipline’s sixteen-year absence, and at AKAA – Also Known As Africa in Paris. In 2025, he was selected for the AlUla Design Residency organized by Arts AlUla in Saudi Arabia, resulting in the Lafiya collection presented in the exhibition Material Witness: Celebrating Design From Within. In 2023, he won the Young Creator Award at the Abidjan Luxury Professions Forum. In 2024, he was named among Forbes Africa’s Top 30 Under 30. In 2026, he received two Africa International Design Awards in the Product Design – Furniture & Lighting category for his Sama and Nègèbennan pieces.
