About this event
Piers Faccini. Since his first album, Leave No Trace, in 2004, Piers Faccini has been crafting delicate songwriting at the crossroads of folk, blues and African music. A free-spirited and adventurous artist, he has sought out many musical collaborations, notably with kora player Ballaké Sissoko, and made one of his standout albums with Shapes of the Fall (2021 Victoires du Jazz, world music category). His new album, Faultlines, due in early 2027, explores human fractures, silences and the spaces where poetry is born. In the face of machine-generated music, he champions a deeply human art of songwriting, nourished by vulnerability and emotion. Farah Fersi, born in Tunisia, is a composer and virtuoso of the qanûn, a central instrument in the Arabic musical tradition. Growing up in a diverse cultural environment, she has developed a distinctive approach to this stringed instrument, with a ten-finger technique and a daring percussive style. Her musical world blends the Arabic classical tradition, jazz, Sufism and world sounds, weaving them into original compositions. At the crossroads of tradition and innovation, Farah Fersi pushes the boundaries of the qanûn and gives it a contemporary, sensitive and deeply personal dimension. An evening in partnership with the Musées de Marseille.
