Tangible 2026 - Refuge_Mikado
About this event
Malte Martin proposes transforming the Territoires Partagés gallery into a sculpture-place, a concept he has been working around for several years: “Sculpting space, making a place. Shifting uses, unsettling everyday space. Diverting familiar objects to restore their poetry. Playing with space, outwitting expectations.”
In a first stage in September, mikado sticks will pierce the skin of the walls like acupuncture needles. When entering the gallery, it will be as if we are moving inside a traversed body… The reference to the game of pick-up sticks makes it possible to work on a composition perceived at first glance as chaotic or the product of chance, which nevertheless sculpts the space, creating a kind of labyrinth. At the beginning of October, as part of the Tangible Festival, this installation will transform. A new intervention in the labyrinthine landscape will reveal refuges, shelters, a mikado hut. Each visitor will have to find their way above, below and between the labyrinth, jungle and refuge…
